Function of DPI Office

  • Notified as attached Directorate of Higher Education Department
  • Implement government policies, instructions, directives and orders
  • Augmentation in policy formulation, administrative and financial matters
  • Administer Inter, Degree, BS-4 Years, Commerce & Post-Graduate Colleges
  • Need assessment and provision of resources (Funds, HR, Infrastructure) to colleges
  • Coordination among the Government, the Divisional Directors and the District Education Offices and other Agencies
  • Preparation of PC-1, Monitoring & Evaluation of Schemes
  • Maintain career record of teaching staff (BPS 17, 18, 19 &20) and preparation of working paper for promotion
  • Conduct Enquiries / Probe/ Disciplinary action
  • Register Private Colleges under THE PUNJAB PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS (PROMOTION AND REGULATION) ACT 1984 (AMENDED UP TO 2016). NEEDS FURTHER AMENDMENTS TO CATER TO THE PRESENT REQUIREMENTS.
  • Review of audit paras & settlement; Monitoring & Evaluation / inspection of Colleges;
  • Manage Inter-Divisional Transfers of Teaching and non-teaching staff as per delegation of powers & Transfer Policy 2013 (still in vogue but being exercised by S.HED only.
  • Sanction leaves up to maximum of 90 to 179 days from BS-17 to BS-20, except ex-Pakistan & Study Leave as per Delegation of Powers issued Vide No.SO (ADMN-I) 5-40-2008, Dated August 18, 2010), Needs revision.
