LABORATORY SPECIFICATIONS:
ESTABLISHMENT OF BOTANY LABORATORIES FOR BS (4 YEARS PROGRAMME).
Each laboratory should offer a minimum accommodation of 6 workstations. The laboratories should have good ventilation, should be well-illuminated and spacious enough to avoid congestion during the practical activities. At least two independent labs are required to carry out BS Practicals, with following requirements.
Covered area for each lab: 50x30 feet (15.3x 9.15 Meters).
Separate attached 2 rooms (store and for laboratory staff sitting.
Laboratory to students ratio (preferably): 50 students per lab.
Number of tables for practical work; 6 tables per lab
Each lab should be provided with gas, electricity, tab water and used water drainage. The fire extinguishing systems should be installed.
Measurements for lab tables: Height (3 feet), Width (4 feet) and Length (8 feet).
Number of racks for reagents/ chemicals on side walls: 4
Glass sliding almirah/ cabinets for preserved specimens: 4
White board: 8x3feet
Manpower: 2 Laboratory attendants and a Laboratory Assistant
